Mulligatawny Soup
Ingredients:

Masoor dal 1 cup

Water 4 cups

Thick coconut milk 1 cup

Onion 1

Cloves 3

Bay leaf 1

Salt to taste
Ingredients For seasonings:

Butter 3 tbsp

Garlic 6 flakes

Cumin seeds 3/4 tsp

Pepper corns 1/2 tsp
Method:
Wash the dal, add water and bay leaf and place on fire. Peel the onion
and stick cloves into it. Add the whole onion into the cooking dal. When
the dal is cooked well, dicard the bay leaf and onion. Cool and blend in
a mixie. Mince the onion for seasoning. Grind garlic, cumin and pepper
together to a smooth paste. Heat butter and fry onions till brown. Add
the ground paste and fry for one minute. Add to the dal. Add salt and coconut
milk. Place it back on fire. Heat till it just begins to boil. Remove from
fire. Add 1 tbsp cooked rice to each serving and serve hot.
