Wash masoor dal and cook in a pressure cooker with one cup of water. Make a puree of it. Melt butter and saute vegetables till they change colour. Add tomato puree and a cup of water. Cook till tender, but crisp. Add lentil puree, lemon juice, salt and black pepper powder. Adjust consistency by adding water. Simmer soup for a few minutes and serve hot with a leaf of mint in each bowl.
