Vepampoo Rasam

Soak tamarind in 2 1/2 cups of water. Squeeze out the tamarind, retaining the tamarind and water solution. Add salt, turmeric and hing to this solution and bring to a boil. Heat oil in a pan and add red chillies. When the chillies turn black add the vepam poo. Fry till the vepam poo turns black and add this to the boiling solution. Season with fried mustard. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
