Tamarind Flower Sambar
Ingredients :

Tamarind flowers 2 cups

Potato (cubed) 1 cup

Tur dal 1 cup

Tamarind pulp 1 tbsp

Jaggery a small piece
-
Salt to taste
Roast and grind to paste :
-
Coriander seeds 2 tbsp
-
Gram dal 1 tbsp
-
Red chillies 3 to 4
-
Asafoetida a pinch
-
Cinnamon 2 small pieces
-
Jeera and pepper 1/2 tsp each
-
Coconut gratings 2 tbsp
Seasoning:
-
Oil 1 tsp
-
Mustard seeds 1 tsp

Curry leaves a few
-
Garnish: coriander leaves a few (chopped)
Method:
Pressure cook dal till soft and mash well. Wash the flowers and cook along
with potato cubes till tender in salted water. Add tamarind pulp and jaggery
and boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the ground paste, cooked dal and simmer
for 3 to 4 minutes. Season with the mentioned ingredients and pour over
the sambar. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
