Poondu Kozhambu
Ingredients:
- tamarind a small lemon size
- red chillies 10 to 12
- thuar dal 2 tsp
- coriander seeds 2 tsp
- pepper 2 tsp
- fenugreek little(fried)
- garlic 1/4 kg
- curry leaves a few
- coconut 4 tsp
- rice flour 1/2 tsp
Method:
Soak tamarind in one cup of water for 5 minutes, squeeze and stain out the liquid. Fry thuar dal, red chillies, coriander seeds, pepper and fenugreek seeds. Fry coconut, garlic and curry leaves.
Grind all fried ingredients together to a fine paste. Boil the tamarind solution and add turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida. When the aroma of tamarind subsides add the ground paste. When it
reduces in volume add the rice flour solution(mix rice flour in water and stir well by hands to eliminate the lumps).
Serves 6.
