Kala Chana Curry
Kala chana curry can be made in two ways. One with masala and the other without masala. Lets discuss both the recipes in this.
Ingredients For Curry Without Masala
- Kala chana 1 to 1 1/2 cups
- brinjal 2 or 3
- potatoes 2 (small)
- onion 1(1/2 to grind and 1/2 to fry)
- sambar powder a tsp
- coriander leaves
- turmeric powder a pinch
- tomato 1 or 2
- coriander powder
- mustard a tsp
- curry leaves a few
- tamarind
Method:
Soak chana overnight. Pressure cook it. Add brinjal and potatoes in it as soon as openning. Add tamarind water. Fry onion and grind along with sambar powder,
coriander, turmeric, tomato and coriander powder. Add this masala to the boiling channa. Season with mustard and curry leaves.
Ingredients For Curry Without Masala
- Kala chana 1 to 1 1/2 cups
- brinjal 2 or 3(indian varieties or 1/2 eggplant)
- potatoes 2-3(small)
- tomato 1 or 2
Ingredients For Masala
cinnamon stick 1" piece
ginger-garlic paste a tsp
red chilli 4-5
onion 2(1 to fry and 1 to grind)
coriander leaves
coriander powder a tsp
coconut powder 3 tsp
Method:
Soak chana overnight. Pressure cook it. Add cut, brinjal, tomato and potatoes to the boiling chana. First grind cinnamon. Fry red chilli and grind.
Grind ginger, garlic, fried onion, coriander leaves, coriander powder and coconut powder. Add this masala to the boiling chana. Do not season.
