Buttermilk With Dal Balls
Ingredients:
- thoor dal 1 cup
- bengal gram dal 1/4 cup
- grated coconut 2 tbsp
- onion 2 tbsp(finely chopped)
- green chillies 2(chopped)
- curry leaves 10
- cilantro 1 tbsp(chopped)
- asafoetida 1 pinch
- turmeric powder 1 pinch
- salt 2 tsp
- curd 4 cups
Method:
Soak both teh dals in water for 2 1/2 hours and then grind it to a coarse paste along with all the other ingredients except curd. Make 8 round balls of equal size. Steam it in an idli vessel for 30 minutes. Leave it to cool.
Meanwhile take the well beaten curd in a vessel(the curd should not be too thick, make it to a thick buttermilk) and add turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida. Boil this in a slow flame till the buttermilk foams. Now add the
cold dhal balls 2 at a time. Leave them for 2 seconds and add the rest of the balls in the same way. Remove after boiling them for a couple of minutes on low heat. Serve hot.
