Wash and cut the brinjals into thick slices. Apply some turmeric, chilli powder and salt on them. Heat the butter in a skillet and fry the brinjal slices to a golden brown. Drain and keep them aside. In a bowl put in the coconut milk and the garam masala powder. Layer all the fried brinjals in a square casserole. Then sprinkle the finely minced onion and green chillies over them. Make a paste of the cornflour woth a little water and mix it in the coconut milk. Pour this milk over the onions. Bake in a pre- heated oven for six to eight minutes. Serve hot with rotis.
