Peel and core the apples. Then cut them into thin slices. Layer the slices in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle lemon juice over them. Meanwhile, beat the butter with the sugar till creamy. Then add the well beaten eggs. Mix gently. Sieve the maida with the baking powder a couple of times. Then gradually add it to the butter mixture. Mix gently and then pour out this batter over the apple slices. Press the almond flakes over the top and bake in a moderately hot oven till done. Cut into wedges in the dish itself and serve.
