Wash and cut the potatoes and carrots in one inch pieces. Slice onion, green chillies and ginger. Crush coconutand take out half a cup thick milk and one and half cup thin milk. Heat oil. Add cinnamon and cloves. When it becomes brown add onion, chillies and ginger. Saute till onion becomes soft. Add all the vegetables and stir for a while. Add thin milk, curry leaves and salt. Cover and cook till the vegetables are done. Add the first milk. When it starts to boil remove from fire. Serve hot with vellayappam.
