Sweet Steamed Pears



Peel skin off pears and cut in half. Remove core to make a hole in centre of each pear half, about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. Combine raisins and rock sugar. Fill each half pear with 1/4 of raisin, rock sugar mixture and sprinkle with almonds. Place pears on a heat-proof dish that will fit in the steaming tray. Add 4 cups of water to the pot and bring to boil. Place steaming tray, with heat-proof dish inside on top of pot. Steam until rock sugar dissolves or for about 1 hour.
