Paruppu Usili Curry



Soak thoor dal along with red chillies for an hour and keep aside. Chop the vegetable fine and keep aside. After an hour grind the dal and chillies to a coarse paste by adding a little water. Now add a little salt and asafoetida to this dal mix. In a pressure cooker plate spread little oil and put this dal mix and in other plate put the vegetable seperately, add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt and cook till 5 whistles(You can cook the vegetables separately in a microwave too if desired). Then remove the dal from the cooker and let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes. Now break the lumps and make it to a coarse powder with hands. Heat oil in a pan, add the seasonings(mustard and urad dal) and add the vegetable. Fry for 2 minutes adding the salt, turmeric and asafoetida. Now add this dal powder to this and fry for a few minutes and remove.
