In a large bowl, mix the bengal gram, rice flour, salt, ginger, chilli, curry leaves and aniseed. Heat 1/2 cup oil and saute the onions for a minute and then add this oil and onion mixture to the flour mix. Mix it well when the oil is still hot. Now add just enough water to bind all the ingredients barely. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Take a fist ful of dough and drop pieces of it into the oil and fry till golden brown on medium heat.
