Carrot Kootu



Grate the coconut. Wash, peel and chop the carrots into small pieces. Cook the dal and carrot together. Add turmeric powder and salt to this. Grind coconut, cumin, ginger and green chillies into a fine paste. Add this to the dal mixture. Cook for 5 minutes in a slow fire. Fry mustard and curry leaves in little oil and season the kootu.
